Made With Love: A Heartwarming Interview About Representation and Inclusion

In episode 111 of the Water Prairie Chronicles podcast, Tonya had the pleasure of sitting down with David and Jackson, the passionate creators behind the upcoming film Made With Love. This film isn’t just about entertainment; it’s a powerful statement about the value of individuals with Down syndrome and the importance of representation and inclusion in the film industry.

Made With Love was written after David and Jackson’s friend, Jay, a young man with Down syndrome who dreams of becoming a movie star challenged David to write a script for him to act in. The film, Made With Love, is about a young man with Down syndrome and his relationship with a retired schoolteacher who wants to open a bakery.

More Than Just a Movie

During our conversation, David and Jackson delved deeper than just the plot of the film. They spoke about their vision for Made With Love as a tool for social change.

“We want to show the world that individuals with Down syndrome are capable of great things,” David passionately shared. “Jay’s story is a testament to the power of the human spirit and the importance of believing in yourself.”

They highlighted the lack of positive representation of individuals with Down syndrome in mainstream media. “The film industry needs to see more stories like Made With Love,” Jackson emphasized, “because individuals with Down syndrome or any special need, they need to be represented because they are out there in our society.”

Making a Difference

Currently, Made With Love is in the fundraising stage. David and Jackson are seeking support from the public to bring their vision to life. By contributing to their crowdfunding campaign (link to crowdfunding page), you can directly impact the film’s creation and contribute to a more inclusive film industry.
